As you know, lots of things are going in our world involving this corona virus. Schools closed, sports activities canceled, runs on products at stores, etc. have made this an interesting period of time in our lives. The elders and I have been in constant prayer/conversation concerning what to do here at Liberty. Those of you here last week saw measures taken to provide sanitary serving of communion. Some chose to wave instead of shaking hands or hugs, all good practices taken by you.
We have an elderly congregation, very vulnerable to this virus. They don’t want to get it, and I am sure no one wants to give it to them. Those of us who are a little younger may contract this virus, but highly likely to not be affected as severely as those not as young. We are choosing to be proactive by not crossing paths here in our building. No, there is no way I can tell anyone not to come to church because of their age/health. I want to protect them, however.
Therefore, the decision has been made to shut down all events, including worship, here at Liberty for the next couple of weeks. We will not have worship services on March 15th and 22nd, for sure, and will evaluate and see what should happen after that. A goal is to return to worship on March 29th, but nothing is firm this far out.
From a spiritual stance, I believe God understands what we are doing here. I will try to provide a daily devotion of some sort in emails for the next couple of weeks. If you need something, DO NOT HESITATE to contact myself or the elders. It may be for food, prayer, or a visit to the hospital with you. Whatever it may be, let us know.
If you are aware of someone who cannot receive this email or text, contact them and let them know of this information.
Love you, be smart, be safe!
Phillip
